"If Rip Van Winkle were to wake up today after a twenty-year slumber, the only institution he would recognise is the school."
- Kathy Hirsh Pasek, Senior Fellow Brookings Institution.

The future of education must eradicate education inequities and develop a breadth of skills in children that are required for them to navigate and thrive in the future; it needs to combine guided-play, imagination & creativity to help children take care of themselves, those in their societies & all life on earth. In this interactive session, Rangeet uses elements of its curriculum to demonstrate how active pedagogies can be used to develop fundamental social, emotional & ecological knowledge & skills and teach mainstream subjects in a way that includes every child.

We start with an activity that teaches one to be aware of what is within our control and what is not, which is an important aspect of being mindful. Together, the participants get to build a collective ‘Circle of Control’. This is followed by a short discussion to understand why this is important for children to learn.

Then, we move on to a lively activity tackling diversity, while teaching the basics of venn diagrams. The activity aims to tackle a globally relevant concept for children along with playfully explaining a concept from a mainstream subject.

Finally, we play a game where we work together to find the lurking culprits of pollution and climate change in a seemingly clean and green neighbourhood, demonstrating how issues like global warming can be taught through engaging play.

The event aims to be an interactive workshop to understand how learning through play is not simply about enjoying oneself, but how active, playful teaching methods like role-play, games, art and experiments can develop better learners, wellbeing, agency and global stewardship.

Do note: while the session is tailored to be engaging, we encourage you to only share as much or as little as you are comfortable.
