Storytelling Project for Families: Stop Motion Animation
In this family engagement experience, we invite you and your child to bring your stories to life by making a stop motion animation film together!
This activity engages you in storyboarding and literacy. You will develop a scene in your story, and then create the characters and setting to make a stop animation film. This activity requires paper, coloring utensils (crayons, marker, etc.) scissors, and the downloading of the stop animation app, iMotion, on a device.
The activity is hosted by Maureen Frew, an elementary maker teacher at Avonworth Primary Center as well as the founder/teacher leader of JAM, and Yu-Ling Cheng, co-producer of Remake Learning Days Across America.
Remake Learning Days Across America (RDLAA) is a festival of creative, hands-on experiences for youth and families to learn together about how education is being remade. In 2021, sixteen regions across America will host family-friendly learning festivals from April 22-May 23.
