Sourced Design: Putting Vitality at the Center of Educational Design
Education can’t save us. We have to save education. ~ Dr. Bettina Love
Sourced Design supports those seeking to fundamentally redesign education at its core. The design orients around vitality and provides five principles that guide designers in radically reorienting their learning environments. Those principles are:
Take care of vulnerability.
Build beloved community.
Respect the ways the Earth works.
Love and serve others.
The Education Design Lab is a place where participants can experiment together and support one another, while also building a body of research in vitality-centered educational design through their case studies. The Sourced design is informed by the 6-year case study of Springhouse Community School and living systems principles. It is now being shared with four learning environments in the US, South America, and Africa through the Education Design Lab at Springhouse in the US.
In this dialogue, Dr. Jenny Finn co-founder of Springhouse and Sourced Design, and teenage learners from the case study will present on the five principles, share about the Education Design Lab, and will invite dialogue with participants about bringing vitality back to the center of educational design.
