Besides that, we operate the biggest nature and environmental school in Finland which have been educating people of all ages nearly 30 years. Our environmental education reaches approximately 60 000 clients annually.

Now we invite teachers and other international attendees to see our teaching programs in action in our store in Itäkeskus (Kauppakartanonkatu 12, Helsinki). The visit begins with the tour behind scenes to give you an insight on our work for circular economy. It also shows how we use the store as a learning environment. The tour is followed by a film workshop which focuses to empower participants to teach others.
The activity does not require prior knowledge or experience. All materials are provided.
Helsinki Metropolitan Area Reuse Centre Ltd (Pääkaupunkiseudun Kierrätyskeskus Oy) was founded in 1990. Our goal back then was –and still today is –to preserve natural resources and raise environmental awareness. This we achieve through providing an alternative to single-use culture, enabling a more sustainable way of living. We are a non-profit company, using any possible profit to improve our services, instead of handing it out to shareholders.
- Behind the Scenes tour consists of a short intro on what Reuse centre is all about and why it is so vital to keep items and products circulating. It gives you an insight on circular economy in practice and helps you to understand the active role of each and every one of us. This experience empowers learners of different ages to act for more sustainable future.
- Reuse Film Made By Me -workshop. Making a short film is a useful learning method. We will use iPads to make short films about the visit and the things you have learned and experienced. Making a short film is a great way to reflect on learning and also a valuable tool for peer to peer learning.
